House Centipede


Centipedes are 1 to 2 inches in length with about 15 pair of leg segments. Its body is yellowish-grey with 3 dark stripes running down its body. Centipedes can run up walls, on ceilings and floors.


House centipedes feed on spiders, bedbugs, termites, cockroaches, silverfish, ants and other household arthropods.

They live anywhere from three to seven years.

They kill their prey by injecting venom through a pair of modified legs.

House centipedes prefer to live in cool, damp places like basements and bathrooms when indoors.

The bite of most house centipedes is incapable of penetrating human skin.
